Importance of species lists

Why is it important to take inventory of the species at Bijagual Ecological Reserve?
In order to effectively protect the forest and its inhabitants, it is important to know what we are protecting. Species specific habitat requirements influence the policies we adopt, the management practices we employ and the scale of our conservation programs.

Are you interested in helping catalog particular taxa?
The staff continually update the lists of flora and fauna observed. If you would like to participate, please get in touch with us. We appreciate all efforts to record the biodiversity at Bijagual.

SPECIES LISTS

The species lists at the Bijagual Ecological Reserve include only those species that have been seen, heard or have left evidence of their presence in the form of tracks or scat. A variety of methods for sightings are employed: observations, images from camera traps, mist netting of birds and bats, amphibian surveys, as well as light traps and malaise traps for insect collections. Follow the links below to discover what species we have found at Bijagual.
